Day 6
TTC video
This time we started with watching a welcome video from Tallaght Training Centre. We discussed the pros and cons of the video. In general this video serves it's purpose brilliantly. It delivers the message about the Tallaght Training Centre evening course times, getting in and out of building, procedures around fire safety, contact details etc. As not all the students are native English speakers, the video was at a slow pace and very simple and clear, so that everyone could get understand the information provided in the video. It included pictures of this building. This was also a reminder for us that one of the most important things starting our projects (videos) is to ask what is the goal of the video? ask the question WHY?
TallaghtSocial Twitter account
Then we talked about being shadowbanned on the Twitter. Our teacher Brian suspects that our Twitter account @TallaghtSocial might be shadowbanned as not all of our posts are visible. There are some ways of checking it here- Shadowban test.
Camera shots
Then talking about shooting our videos, Brian told us about 7 different type of camera shots:
1.extremely long (that is filmed from far away to give the viewer information where the action is taking place)
2.long or wide shot (that is filmed from a distance where characters are seen from the feet to top of the head)
3.mid-shot or medium shot(in this shot the character is seen from the waist to the top of the head)
4.close up (from the top of the shoulders to the top of the head)its used for dialogs and is great to show facial expression, emotions)
5.extreme close up (where an object, item or body part fills the frame, it is also used for heightening emotion)
6.high angle (this way the camera films from up down, this is used to make object small, vulnerable or less powerful)
7.low angle (camera filming from down looking up, in this way making an object more powerful, dominant)
There is also a shot called B-roll shot. This shot brings different perspective to the video. It's a secondary video shot outside of the primary. As an example we watched an interview with tennis player Emma Raducanu. The video was made of diffrent shots, like B-roll. It made the video more live. (A-roll) shot. Shooting a B-roll is important and makes your video look professional.
Kdenlive
Brian found an app to make a good video, it's called Kdenlive, at the start it looks a little complicated to me, but teacher taught us that is it quite simple to use. Also it has a great feature to adjust a good audio to your video with bad audio track. Simple instructions:
1.Right click on bad audio, then click set audio reference
2.Right click on the good audio, then click align to preference audio.
Done! Now you have a good audio in place of a bad one. Simple as 123. 👌
You can download the kdenlive here:

Lifehacks 💡📎🗀
Guess what is the 20th century inventions #1?!?- no one guessed it right, it's a paperclip! Here's a little lifehack from Brian, he uses a paperclip to keep his wireless headphones together, and helping him not to lose them, what a great idea! While at this here's another lifehack, take the plastic binder and stick a wire with a lav microphone in it and here you have a microphone on a pole(telescopic stick), that helps reach the person you are interviewing easier.🎤
Veed.io
Then we started covering how to make a video on Veed.io. It's super simple, userfriendly online app, where you can create video, edit it and export it. Just drag and drop video, audio and music track and voila your first video is ready. There is a watermark applied to your video, but if it is a problem to you, they will remove it if you subscribe to their service at starting price just €13 a month, which is not too bad, as you could make loads of videos in one month and then just cancel subscription, great isn't it? A suggestion from our teacher is to keep your background music at 10% volume.
St.Brigid's Day
Brian shared with us some video regarding the St.Brigid's day which is on Mon 6th of February.
This is a first bank holiday celebrating St. Brigid's day this year 2023.
This is an example of being and posting relevant information of what's going on in the world now on Social Media. In connection with this creator Victoria Keating got 3 pages in one of the leading Cork's newspaper to promote herself. I think it's awesome.
Finding your niche
Then we talked about Sunny Lenarduzzi's video on YouTube, where she posts inspirational videos and promotes her courses that promise to transform lives. The important message from her is to find your niche, be different, edgy, in this way you will be successful in what you do. See the video below:
