Today we started with checking out our page https://tallaghtsocial.com/ and couple of us have contributed by adding a post on our website, including myself ๐Ÿ˜Š you can see my post here: https://tallaghtsocial.com/hi-class-23/

5W1H-golden rules for journalists

Brian suggested to interview someone and add to the blogger blog, as this would count in portfolio.

I haven't decided who I will interview, sounds interesting. Here are some golden rules for journalists-

5W1H this stands for 5 questions starting with W and 1 starting with H

Who? What? Why? When? Where? and lastly How?

I will definitely will be using those when preparing questions for my interview. Who knows maybe one day I will be interviewing a celebrity? ๐Ÿ˜

Retweeting

Then Brian suggested about retweeting posts of what's relevant for your field of interest for example Tallaght Stadium for our Twitter account @TallaghtSocial as we are based in the same area

Finding connections

Little tip from our teacher, we should find accounts relevant to our account and then check who are they following, in this way we can find loads of accounts that might be good connections for us, so we can follow them. There are some limits in the amount of people we are following per day, teacher said not to follow more than a 50 a day, this would be more human way gradually growing your account.

Add value to your product

One of my classmates had a question regarding selling items and posting them, the problem was that general post doesn't accept sending certain things, but couriers for the starter business could be to expensive way of sending goods. Well our teacher suggested that in this situation you need to try adding value to your product. It has to be unique, special, artisan, something that isn't possible to buy elsewhere. In this way you can justify having higher price on your product and send by courier company.

Gadgets for good video

We also talked about things that can be useful when filming a video. Using a stand like boom stand or tripod makes the video steady and more professional. You can also use your old phone as a camera on the stand, which frees your own phone for use. A little tip here, to keep your phone on the stand secure it with an elastic wristband. Teacher suggested to download Cinema FV5 app for editing videos. The audio is even more important than the picture in the video. Like would always reject a bad sound on a video, but wouldn't mind if the visual picture wouldn't be perfect. And I completely agree on this.

Today Brian showcased few of his gadgets for a good audio recording: Rode Go II wireless mics(cost around €300), Rode smart Lavaliere mic(around €60), as we can see our teacher is a bit of a fan of Rode brand, he told us he has one at home that is over 25 years old and still going strong. I think it's well worth investing in those kind of microphones to improve the quality of the videos.

Go Pro cameras make great videos and also have great audio, fantastic for example for sports and travel and many other occasions. See below the video about GoPro Quik app.

Whatsapp group for yourself

We also talked about creating a group on Whatsapp for one. Where you start a group with a friend and then immediately remove him. Now you have a group of your own. Voicemails can be forwarded here  to your email and saved as .opus files for to be included in our audio visual edits. I think it's a great tip for anyone. This is what I am going to do now, and check it out.

Don't be afraid to invest in good quality audio and video equipment like Rode, it will last and will give your audience the best watching/listening experience and will definitely pay off.
