Day 13
Etsy
A quick roundup about opening an Etsy account at the previous class. As it turned out it wasn't that straight forward to open here account. ๐Also they charge more than expected. They charge €0.20 for adding product, if it doesn't sell in 4 months then for renewing ad they charge €0.20, and so on every 4 months, and that is only for 1 product. Further if the item sell they charge another €0.20 also it's 6.5% credit card fees. Teacher opened the account as an experiment, as it is a simple way to get a feedback about your product. But Etsy is very protective of their space. Important questions to ask about your product are: what?(product) and why? is the product interesting. If you don't get answer on one platform, then go and try other platforms.

Content Calendars
We also learned about how to plan your content, there are content calendars available to try on Hootsuite.com & Hubspot.com. With so many different social networks to manage, it can be tricky to plan which content to share at what time, and on which platform. Content calendars help to manage and plan your social media content, making your social marketing more effective. You can have plans for all your Social media platforms all in one space. Basically these calendars help you schedule your social media campaigns, posts. Also you can get reminders and alerts to do these in time. Conclusion we came to is that measuring things and having a plan for your social media is really good for business.๐ But if you are only starting and your business is small, maybe putting up your content in organic way is also good enough for you until you grow your business. See the sample of this kid of calendar.

Tweetdeck
Tonight Brian also demonstrated how to use Tweetdeck. So what is Tweetdeck? It is a really powerful tool to manage your Twitter accounts, especially if you have many of them.
Tweetdeck offers a more convenient Twitter experience by letting you view multiple timelines in one easy interface. It includes a host of advanced features to help get the most of Twitter: Manage multiple Twitter accounts, schedule Tweets for posting in the future, build Tweet collections, and more. Teacher scheduled a tweet for our TallaghSocial Twitter account to be posted during our class. We also learned that you need to have correct date and time on your PC to set the right day and time for your post. As teachers computer time and date wasn't set correctly, we had to set it. Just go to the search bar beside the start button and search for→Set date & time→ then choose the correct time zone and you're done. See below this tweet that Brian scheduled on the Tweetdeck:
Hello Tallaght 19:15 of a Wednesday - What are ye up to?
— Tallaght Social (@TallaghtSocial) March 1, 2023
Also on your Tweetdeck you can search for the information you're interested in, for example, we searched for the term Shamrock Rovers, and we could see all the posts not only from the official Shamrock Rovers account, but also where other people were mentioning them in their posts. In this way we can find out interesting news about the Shamrock Rovers. I went on a Tweetdeck and tried doing the same, find the picture below:
Through social listening, you can track every mention of your brand on social media in real-time. This will give you valuable insights into how customers feel about your products or services, what their main points are, and what they’d like to see from you in the future. In this way we keep updated what is happening around us, so we can create relevant and interesting content.

Also referred as Report your world, this is one of the strategies for business. Where you become a specialist in a niche connected to your industry. Blog, write, post as an expert, go deep into your niche. The content association with your business will bring your business via organic traffic.
Content is all around us, we just have to get up and find it. It might be harder if you are in the city, but still possible. Teacher told us of an example- Brandon Stanton creator of "Humans of New York" interviews with thousands of people in the city of New York. Your story can grow into commerce(you can start selling something that you create).

Brian suggested a website- Snopes.com where you can check whether the fact is real. As we live in an era of fake news(misleading data) it can be very useful to check if what we are reading/ seeing true.

Double Irish Dutch sandwich
The term “Double Irish Dutch Sandwich” is used to describe a complex corporate tax avoidance strategy that is used by some of the world’s largest multinational companies. The strategy involves routing profits through a series of subsidiaries located in low-tax jurisdictions in order to reduce the overall tax liability. The strategy gets its name from the fact that profits are first routed through an Irish company, then through a Dutch company, and then back to an Irish company before being repatriated to the parent company.
